English Update

This year, we have introduced new learning journeys and targets across the school. Pupils in Key Stage One have the English Elephant and in Key Stage Two, pupils have a cauldron in which to mix the 'Recipe for Success.' By having a learning journey for their whole unit of work, children are able to identify which skills they are learning and to link these directly to the end of unit aim, which might be to write in a particular genre or to create a presentation to demonstrate their understanding. The lesson objectives, skills displayed on the Learning Journey and the children's individual targets are all directly related to the new National Curriculum, enabling pupils to have a secure understanding of where they are in their learning and what they need to do next in order to improve.
