Parent Volunteer - DBS Application

Owing to the fact that we have not been able to accommodate any volunteers in school over the previous months, all DBS checks have now become invalid. We hugely appreciate the time that our volunteers give. Without volunteers, we would struggle to provide some activities and others, including swimming, could not go ahead in the same way.

We have recently updated our volunteer procedure and wish to highlight the following points:-

As all volunteers are aware, a requirement of your DBS certificate is attendance in school at least once a term.

Moving forward all volunteers will need to complete an application form and complete four separate training courses on line via Educare, our training provider:-

1) Child Protection in Education

2) Health and Safety in Education : staff awareness

3) A Guide to UK Data Protection : Education

4) The Prevent Duty

Access to these will be provided free of charge and you will be able to download a certificate upon completion. Access to other courses may be granted as and when the need arises.

Meadow Primary School will now pay the individual application fee, with the proviso that once a DBS has been processed and completed, the volunteer will need to subscribe to the DBS update service (within one month of the DBS being issued).  This subscription is free for volunteers and must be completed annually.

We apologise if this process now seems involved, but we are sure you will appreciate the children’s safety is paramount at all times.
