Meadow Primary School safeguarding of students and staff and fence and hedge replacement

Posted on: 2024-04-15

Meadow Primary School has recently replaced old and damaged fencing along Waverley Road as it no longer provided an appropriate level of security and has replaced this with a more secure fence boundary as part of the measures to safeguard pupils and staff.  In order for the contractor to remove the old concrete posts and chain link fencing, it was necessary to remove the hedging that had grown around the old fencing, and this has caused some concern in the community at the loss of habitat for the wildlife living in the hedge.

Meadow Primary School recognises that this temporary loss of habitat is regrettable, and pupils from the school’s Eco Club will be working with various wildlife advisory bodies to research and implement additional measures to encourage the wildlife to return, in order to supplement the replacement planting being carried out by the school’s contractor.

We look forward to sharing pictures and stories on the school website of the pupil Eco Club’s work.
